What type of unit are you buying?

Older style unit building constructed in about 1910. Typical problems include rising damp, termite infestation, rotting floors, sagging roofs and cracks in walls due to subsidence.


Two storey walk up units built in about 1930. Repairs often required include re-wiring, re-plumbing and re-roofing and can cost tens of thousands of dollars.


1970's buildings commonly suffer from concrete cancer which can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to repair.


1990's buildings can be poorly maintained because of absent landlords who do not want to spend any money on maintenance.


Units built between 1995 and 2005 often do not comply with fire regulations that can cost tens of thousands of dollars to upgrade.


Newly constructed units are rushed to completion by builders who cut corners. Common problems include cracking in walls and damp entry.
